Abstract

In July 2016, the Japan Pancreas Society released a new version (the 7th edition) of the General Rules for the Study of Pancreatic Cancer that was written in Japanese. This version includes a new staging system that was mostly adopted from the 7th edition of the staging system developed by the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) and the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC); this revision would enable the international availability of the original Japanese staging system, which in turn would enable effective comparison of data on such cancers worldwide.
