Abstract

It is a pleasure to present to Thomas W. Hill, a Macelwane Award for 1980. The pleasure for me is undeniably heightened by the fact that Tom was one of my students. Professors are generally aware that one of the rewards of academic research is being associated with an outstanding student. It allows one to boast without being immodest.
