Abstract

The Central Safety Department is responsible for licensing procedures and for supervising, monitoring and executing measures of industrial health and safety, radiation protection and security service at and for the institutes and departments of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH (Karlsruhe Research Centre), and for monitoring liquid effluents and the environment of all facilities and nuclear installations on the premises of the Research Centre. With regard to keep present knowledge in Radiation Protection, junior scientists, young engineers, PhD- and Master students do some R&D projects within the Central Safety Department. This report gives details of the different duties and reports the results of 2006 routine tasks, investigations and developments of the working groups of the Department. The reader is referred of the English translation of Chapter 1 describing the duties and organization of the Central Safety Department in more detail.
