Abstract

For pt.II see abstr. A24700 of 1974. The properties of magnetic ions having orbital-triplet T2 ground states coupled to T2-type displacements in a cubic lattice are investigated. Analytical solutions and reduction factors in the weak-coupling limit are deduced. Some progress for the strong-coupling limit is also made. Attention is drawn to the existence of a two-phonon relaxation process deriving from the products of lattice coordinates and lattice moments when a strong interaction with both E- and T2-type lattice displacements is present.
