Gagnon, Dubreuil-Blondin and Lamarche look at art criticism and Jackson Pollock, focusing on changes and points of resistance in Greenberg's writing from 1943 to 1952, the construction of the ideology of American formalist criticism, and the status of Pollock's name and images within the magazine Artforum. Payant produces readings of Pollock's paintings in terms of absence, desire and representation. Circa 180 bibl. ref.
