Abstract

In this study, the effect of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) on electrochemical area(ECA) was investigated in the case of adding IPA to electrode catalyst ink. IPA can decrease the formation of secondary aggregate and enhance the dispersion of ionomar into the secondary aggregate because IPA can reduce the surface tension of water. According to the results of experiments of this study, it was verified that ECA and maximum power density increased with IPA addition proportion. In additions, the method of cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurement was also investigated in order to estimate the ECA. It was shown that the sweeping rate of voltage needed to be increased in the case of little catalyst loading.
