Abstract

A method to correct the measurement of the electrochemical experiment using a small electrode is proposed for use in quantitative evaluation of pipe thinning phenomena. In the method, it is assumed that the friction velocity is the only hydraulic behavior to affect wall thinning rate. The method is based on the estimation of the friction velocity and the mass transfer rate from the pipe wall with a fully-developed concentration boundary layer. The applicability of the method was confirmed using the mass transfer coefficients measured at the straight pipe.
