Abstract
Thicknesses of both side coatings on a steel plate are measured by means of acoustic resonant spectroscopy. Focused and non-focused ultrasonic transducers are employed in this study, and effect of acoustic focusing on the accuracy of thickness measurements is investigated. Focused ultrasonic transducer is useful for measuring the thickness of coating at the local area. On the other hand, non-focused ultrasonic transducer enables us to realize the simultaneous measurement of coating thickness at both sides.
