Abstract
Subharmonic wave generation at double contact surfaces is analyzed with one-dimensional finite - difference time - domain scheme in which contacting surfaces are represented by separable spring model. Increasing incident amplitude, subharmonic component suddenly appeared and then chaotic low frequency vibration was observed, which qualitatively agree well with our previous experimental results. Intensity maps of subharmonic component were obtained and showed that subharmonic wave generates under a limited condition of incident amplitude, interfacial stiffness and contact pressure
