Abstract

In this study, we aim at constructing a three dimensional computational model of right coronary artery (RCA) based on radiographic images with consideration of the RCA's dynamics and compliance・ Effects of the dynamics and the compliance on RCA hemodynamics are investigated with a specific focus on-correlations between vessel deformations and the RCA hemodynamics in terms of wall shear stresses (WSSs) and oscillatory shear indices (OSIs). Particularly, we carried out a quantitative evaluation of the flow structures in three image-based models with an artificial stenosis of 0%, 50% and 75% respectively. Our results show that the RCA's dynamics and compliance extend much less influence on the RCA hemodynamics in the non-stenosis model than in the 50% and 75% stenosed models; the stenosis obviously shows crucial correlations with a large separation region immediately behind it, which results in a significant increase in WSSs and OSIs.
