Abstract

The Scientific Work of Dr. J. C. Mottram (1880–1945). Cecil Mottram's name will long be remembered for his researches in radiology and cancer from the standpoint of the pathologist. I do not think it is any overstatement to say that he was for years the outstanding pathologist in this country, to whom radiologists looked for authoritative opinion and with whom they collaborated actively on a large variety of subjects. His experimental researches, mainly in cancer, cover three periods: at the Middlesex Hospital (1908–19), at the Radium Institute, London (1919–37), and at Mount Vernon Hospital (1937–45).
