Abstract

It is with deep regret that we record the death of Joseph Cyril Jones on November 2, 1969. Cyril Jones came into medical physics during the war following an undergraduate career as Scholar of Caius College, Cambridge to which he went from Wrexham Grammar School in 1938. After taking physics in the Natural Sciences Tripos Part II in 1941 he worked first for a year on plasma filtration problems at the Liverpool Blood Transfusion Centre. He then joined the Middlesex Hospital under Professor Russ. His entry into hospital service was initially a consequence of his religious attitude to military service, but he continued in medical physics throughout his later career.
