Abstract
This article presents Ivan Koštiál’s research in Romance linguistics. Special attention is devoted to the contributions in which Koštiál—who, unfortunately, was somewhat overlooked by Romance linguistics in Slovenia—deals with language contact between Slovenian and the Romance languages.
