Abstract

In the present paper some additions are made to our knowledge of the fossil floras of the South Staffordshire Coalfield. The plant remains here described belong to two distinct horizons, the Red Clay Series, part of the Transition Coal Measures, and the Productive Group, or Middle Coal Measures. In the past four years, during which my attention has been particularly engaged by this coalfield, I have received much help, both as regards geological information and the collection of fossil plants, from many residents in the district, and this aid I desire to acknowledge here.
