Abstract

Dr. Hildegard Peplau's interpersonal relations theory is applied to the nursing care of pediatric oncology patients. The nursing metaparadigm framework is the person, the environment, health, and nursing. In this article, a fictitious interpersonal relation between a pediatric oncology patient and Dr. Peplau is created. The person is represented by the patient. The environment is represented by the family. Health is represented by the treatments. Nursing is represented by Dr. Peplau. Although Dr. Peplau's theory is used in psychiatric nursing, the relations and roles of the interpersonal process are applied easily to the clinical arena of pediatric oncology.
