Abstract

As I write this column, the last during my term as 2011 IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) president, I still have more than 40% of my term yet to go! So, forgive me for the optimism that will permeate the rest of this column, but I will assume that the progress we have made thus far will continue until the end of this year. Our goal is to prove that the MTT-S is the organization to which every microwave engineer on Earth should belong because it cares the most for its membership. It appears that we are getting there, based on feedback from the four corners of the world (I will have been on all continents except Antarctica by the end of 2011), but we still have lots of work in store for my 2012 successor, Dr. Nick Kolias. By the way, had we a Chapter in Antarctica, I would have visited it!
