Abstract

Bile duct trauma during laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality, reduces survival and long-term quality of life and may cause legal proceedings. The frequency of occurrence is poorly determined due to the fact that most accidents remain undeclared. The circumstances of the trauma, the serious lesions often accompanied by infectious syndromes, biliary peritonitis responsible for visceral failure (hepatic, renal) and malnutrition are indeed often not mentioned in the operative reports. Iterative repair attempts by the same team at the origin of the trauma increase the lesions and make their management more difficult.
