Abstract

The increased number of Italians who moved abroad registered in the last years, but also the global economical crisis started in 2008 with its side effects, including the migratory phenomenon, contributed to the return to the idea of Italy as a country of emigration. However, studies focusing on recent Italian emigration are still uneven and this issue remains an almost intact field of study. This article fo-cused on the Italian emigration in Belgium would contribute to the study of this phenomenon, with an intergenerational reading in order to investigate part of the existing relationships between the different generations of migrants inside the Ital-ian communities abroad. Thanks the analysis of the interviews with Italians who are living in Belgium, it was possible to investigate the evolution of the Italian community of this country in a comparison between past and recent emigration in order to better understand the most recent migratory phenomenon.
