Abstract
Tail-anchored (TA) membrane proteins perform essential cellular functions. They are posttranslationally inserted into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane by interaction of the Get3 chaperone with the Get1/2 receptor. Two independent structural and functional analyses of the Get3/receptor complex by Stefer etal. and Mariappan etal. now provide insights into TA protein insertion.
