Abstract
We both missed the diagnosis in these two patients, but if we had examined their clothes we would probably have got it right. So we report them to make the point that it is sometimes worth looking at clothes as well as the bodies they hang on. Polonius said, apparel oft proclaims the man. We want to add, and, not very oft, proclaims his disease. Case 1. —A photographer, aged 29, attended in April, 1961, with crops of painful ulcers on his legs (Fig 1). The ulcers had started three years previously, after both legs had been skin grafted for burns following a motorcycle accident, and had recurred at intervals ever since. Because they were painful and would not heal, they were treated with Thiersch grafts.
