Abstract
The article is devoted to the history of railway communication in Novorossiysk. Special attention is paid to the controversial issues of the chronology of its development and the construction of railways in the Kuban. It started in the 1860s, when the railways approached the southern outskirts of the country, although at that time there was still an irreconcilable Caucasian war on the territory of the Kuban.
