Abstract
title SUMMARY /title The present article provides a list of Italian scientific instrument makers who were active during the nineteenth century. The list is not to be considered exhaustive but it does supply a detailed panorama of the Italian industry of precision instruments during the nineteenth century which, with only a few exceptions, appeared far less advanced than those of France, Germany or England. The list is intended as an aid to those who study Italian instruments and who require fuller information concerning their makers in order to make precise datings. The article ends with an ample bibliography.
