Abstract

This chapter discusses the major components in the design for a formal peer mentoring program. In the process, it addresses such topics as training peer mentors, attributes of peer mentors, and mentor-mentee matching. It finally reports the participants’ reflections on these issues. The specific aspects that contribute to the effective peer mentoring program include the peer mentors’ attributes, peer mentor/mentee matching, and peer mentor training/orientation.
