Abstract
This paper reviews the prospects of using complementary SiGe HBTs (npn + pnp transistors) to enhance the capabilities of current npn-only SiGe technology platforms. After an introduction, we discuss device design approaches and optimization, point out device and fabrication challenges, introduce technology solutions presently in existence, and project forward to potential applications of complementary SiGe technology.
