Abstract

Front cover: Mouse sperm are immature immediately after production in the testis. Lumicrine factors (NELL2 and NICOL) secreted by the testis stimulate the differentiation of epididymal initial segment epithelial cells, and these epithelial cells are responsible for processing the ADAM3 protein on the sperm surface, resulting in sperm maturation. For details, see the review article in this issue (Kiyozumi (2023) Genes Cells 28: 757‐763, DOI: 10.1111/gtc.13066). The boys with long hair in this drawing also have their hair cut at the barbershops at the approach to a bridge and go out into the world, crossing the bridge as mature men.
