Abstract

Cover legend: Lipid transfer proteins (LTPs) begin to act on the stage center. X-ray -crystallography -information of lipid transfer proteins in -complex with lipid ligands was obtained from the RCSB protein -database (PDB). With the UCSF Chimera program, proteins with ligands were three-dimensionally viewed. From top left to bottom right, human CERT START domain with C16-ceramide (PDB code: 2E3O), yeast Osh3p -OSBP-related domain with phosphatidylinositol 4-monophosphate (PDB code: 4INQ), human α-tocopherol transfer -protein with α-tocopherol (PDB code: 1OIP), and human glycolipid transfer protein with -lactosylceramide, (PDB code: 1SX6). Lipid ligands are shown as the sphere model. For detail, see the -thematic review series that starts from this issue. (Image courtesy of Kentaro Hanada) See -Hurlock et al.
