Abstract

Cover Illustration: The P300 component of the human event-related potential encodes decision formation in the human brain. The P300 potential continually draws widespread interest in basic and clinical neuroscience, yet its functional significance has never been established. Novel analyses of buildup and peak dynamics along with computational simulations demonstrate that the P300 – centro-parietal positivity in the signal scalp topography – reflects a decision formation process that accumulates evidence to a threshold.
