Abstract

The Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP), University of Tokyo, international symposia have been held since 1989 in either one or two year time intervals and always focus on timely topics in solid state physics. The 1998 symposium (and the seventh in theseries) was devoted to neutron scattering and was held on the Roppongi campus from November 24–27, 1998. The program consisted of plenary and topical sessions of mostly invited talks and two poster sessions of contributed papers. In total, 158 papers (26 invited and 132 contributed) were presented in the symposium and the proceedings will be published i n aspecial volume of the Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids.
