Abstract

This study was established in afforastation areas of Isparta-Aydogmus and Burdur-Kemer Forest Districts in 2000, comprising 27 Scotch Pine provenances (Pinus silvestris L.) from Turkey's registered seed sources and 3 provenances from France and Greece. In addition, as a comparasion provenance one from Tourus Cedar (Cedrus libani A. Rich.) and one from Anatolian Black Pine [Pinus nigra Arn. subsp. pallasiana (Lamb.) Hornboe] are included in the trials. The experiments were laid out in the fields as to “Randomized Blocks Method” with 3 replications. Each provenance was represented by thirty 2+0 years old containerized seedlings in each replication. At the first stage of this study, seedling survival percents, height and collar diameter growth by the end of the first and second growing seasons were analysed. Acording to the results obtained from the variance analysis; Pinus silvestris provenances from Vezirkopru-Golkoy, Catacik-Degirmendere, Mesudiye-Arpaalan, Akyazi-Dokurcun and the provenance of Tourus Cedar from Egirdir-Yukaridere have shown better performance and promissing more succes for future than the other tested provenances. Keywords: Pinus silvestris, seed sources, provenance trials.
