Abstract

The isozyme patterns of 13 enzymes in the land snails Cepaea nemoralis, C. hortensis and Arianta arbustorum were studied by means of starch-gel electrophoresis. With the methods employed 8 of the enzymes were found suitable for analysis. Among these, all but one showed differences between at least 2 of the species. Two enzymes, viz. malate dehydrogenase and esterase, in addition had intraspecific polymorphism in 2 and 3 species respectively.
