Abstract
About 1300 individual isotopic age-determinations of British rocks and minerals have now appeared. The present publication supplements those dealing with the 1955–64, 1965 and 1966 age-determinations that have already appeared ( Q. Jl geol. Soc. Lond. 121, 477–533; 122, 443–59; 123, 379–93). During 1967–8, 19 papers were published and abstracts of these papers are now presented. An attempt is made in each abstract to include geographical locality, character and geological relationships of specimens investigated, method employed, constants used, ages obtained and conclusions drawn. A brief introduction and review of the present position are given by P. A. Sabine and J. V. Watson who have also provided full indexes to the abstracts; the opportunity has been taken to collate these with the indexes of the previous three sets of abstracts to cover the fourteen years 1955–68. Brief recommendations are made for authors of age-determination papers concerning the range of data which it is desirable to include.
