Abstract

In this Lecture the production of radioactive isotopes using the isotope separator on line (ISOL) method is discussed. General properties of the method, the different production and ionization mechanisms are presented and the way these are implemented in the target-ion source systems are highlighted. Mass separation and post acceleration together with an overview of the different facilities are included.
