Abstract

Isotopic segregation of 12C and 13C was investigated for both high-pressure and low-pressure diamond synthesis processes. Single-crystal diamond produced by the high-pressure temperature-gradient process was significantly enriched in 12C relative to the liquid-nutrient composition. In contrast, for polycrystalline diamond produced by the low-pressure chemical vapor deposition process no isotopic fractionation within our experimental error was observed.
