Abstract

Abstract By 249 nm irradiation of CH 4 /N 2 or CH 4 matrices doped with mercury, HHgCH 3 is formed and studied through FTIR spectra. DHgCD 3 has been also produced in Hg/CD 4 /N 2 and Hg/CD 4 . The annealing and temperature effects have been discussed for comparison with previous experiments with molecular H 2 instead of CH 4 . The study of mixed matrices Hg/CH 4 /CD 4 /Ar, Hg/CH 4 /CD 4 /N 2 and Hg/CH 4 /CD 4 has shown a strong isotopic effect, the insertion reaction of Hg( 3 P) 1 is much easier in the CH than in the CD bond.
