Abstract

A strong isotope effect has been found for 6Li+ and 7Li+ emission from the LiF/Si(100) system. 6Li+ ions are emitted with the efficiency 1.52 greater than that observed for 7Li+ ions. From the analysis of the kinetic energy distribution of the 6Li+ and 7Li+ ions the desorption quenching parameters are estimated. The changes found in survival probabilities indicate that at least two paths in the lithium desorption were present. It is suggested that the ions registered with energies below 0.6eV originated from the emission and de-excitation of Li∗∗ (1s2s2) atoms. The possibility of final-state potential curve estimation for the emitted particles is also discussed.
