Abstract

We present absolute cross section measurement of dissociative electron attachment to C2H2 and C2D2. The C2H−/ C2D− band at 3 eV shows pronounced isotope effect with the cross section for C2H2 being 14.7 times larger than that for C2D2. The light fragments H− and D− dominate the second dissociative electron attachment band around 8 eV. These bands exhibit much weaker isotope effects which is in agreement with their assignment to Feshbach resonances.
