Abstract

In the present investigation the hemolytic method was used to obtain van’t Hoff i values for various salts. It was thought that these data would be of value in the preparation of solutions isotonic with the blood, since data obtained by other methods are not always valid. A comparison of i values obtained by the hemolytic method, i values calculated from osmotic coefficients and activity coefficients, and i values calculated from freezing-point data is given.
