Abstract
Development work at the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment (AWRE), Aldermaston has shown that isostatic press pressure vessels working up to 2 kbar, besides their intended use for powder compaction, can also be used to accurately form and size metal pressings by using directly applied hydraulic pressure. Isostatic metal forming complements conventional pressing methods and has been shown to extend the ability to cold-form difficult metals.
