Abstract

Data are presented on the results of Mossbauer spectroscopy studies of the behavior of iron ions in the minerals from the zone of contact of ore bodies and surrounding gabbroids of the Kusa ilmenite-magnetite deposit (South Urals)—amphibole and staurolite. Using the procedure of the mathematical narrowing of resonance lines and analysis of distribution functions in the multidimensional space of the hyperfine parameters of Mossbauer spectra, numerical values of the parameters of separate nuclear states of iron have been obtained, which can be considered as standard for the minerals of this group. Data on the Kusa samples are compared with those for the natural (isolated from metamorphites) and synthetic staurolites. The number of components in the spectra of amphiboles and staurolites have been substantiated and their regular changes observed with increasing degree of iron oxidation in these minerals have been determined in the circum-ore zone.
