Abstract

1. We were the first to make a systematic study of the isomerization of the esters of some dienoic and trienoic acids, and also of some 1,5-cyclooctadienes, using potassium tert-butoxide and transition metal complexes in HMPTA solution. 2. Depending on the amount and type of isomerizing reagent, the direction of the shift of the double bonds can be regulated. 3. It was shown that sorbic acid homologs can be obtained by isomerizing the corresponding esters of 2,5- and 2,5,9-unsaturated acids.
