Abstract

A method for the calculation of isomer ratios in reactions in which the compound nucleus decays by the emission of a few particles followed by $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ emission is presented. It is shown that the calculated value of the isomer ratio is sensitive to the spin cutoff parameter, the amount of quadrupole admixture in the $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray cascade, and the presence of discrete levels. In most cases good agreement between experimentally measured and calculated values of isomer ratios is obtained.
