Abstract

Analyzed is the risk of floods under conditions of the isolation of the riverbed from the floodplain on the Lower Kura River. Along with the high sinuosity of the riverbed causing the turbulent nature of the flow, the high concentration of tractional load, the low slope of the riverbed, and the alluvial type of the soil that underlies the riverbed and embankment dams form prerequisites for the intense vertical and horizontal dynamics of the riverbed.
