Abstract

Sox proteins belong to the HMG box-containing family of DNA-binding proteins and are found in vertebrates. They have diverse functions in the regulation of development. We present here the two kinds of Sox genes, the Sox11, Sox11a and Sox11b, and the Sox19 genes from rice field eel (Monopterus albus) using highly degenerate and nested PCR. All the three Sox genes fall into group C of the Sox gene family.
