Abstract
Isopimarane, a tricyclic diterpane, was isolated from some New Zealand Late Cretaceous seep oils and coals in which it occurs in abundance. The structure and absolute stereochemistry of this terrigenous oil biomarker were determined by NMR spectroscopy, CD and synthesis.
