Abstract
Lysozyme (mucopeptide N-acetylmuramylhydrolase, EC 3.2.1.17) was isolated in 50% yield from baboon milk. Four criteria of purity were met. Amino acid analysis indicated a molecular weight of 15 000, with three histidine and no methionine residues; otherwise the composition was broadly similar to that of human milk lysozyme.
