Abstract

A new ester alkaloid, (−)-3β-hydroxy-13α-tigloyloxylupanine was isolated from the seedlings of Cytisus scoparius. Six known alkaloids, (−)-3β,13α-dihydroxylupanine, (+)-13α-tigloyloxylupanine, (+)-13α-hydroxy-lupanine, (+)-lupanine, (−)-sparteine and (−)-17-oxosparteine were also identified by co-TLC, co-HPLC and GCMS with authentic samples. The structure of the new alkaloid was determined by spectroscopic methods. The new acyltransferase activity, tigloyl-CoA: 3β,13α-dihydroxylupanine 13- O-tigloyltransferase (DHLTase) [EC 2.3.1.-], for the formation of this alkaloid was detected in the cell-free extracts of 15-day-old seedlings of C. scoparius.
