Abstract

A new method for preparing amidrazone is described. The amidrazone oxo-persulphido complexes were obtained from the new reaction system of WS 4 2−/P 2S 5/H 2NNH 2·2HCl with CH 3CN or CH 3CH 2CN in air at ambient temperature. In the two complexes WO(S 2) 2{CH 3C(NH)NHNH} ( I) and WO(S 2) 2{CH 3CH 2C(NH)NHNH} ( II), the coordination polyhedron of tungsten is pentagonal bipyramidal, where the two axial ligands are the terminal oxo atom and the N(H) coordinating atom of NHNH in amidrazone. The spectroscopic properties of the complexes are also reported.
