Abstract

Tarim schizothoracin (Schizothorax biddulphi Gunther) is an extremely endangered freshwater fish in China. In this paper, 15 polymorphic microsatellite loci were characterized in this species. The number of alleles ranged from 4 to 14, the observed heterozygosities (HO) were from 0.7609 to 1.0000, and the expected heterozygosities (HE) ranged from 0.7273 to 0.9194. The polymorphism information content was from 0.6684 to 0.9020. Only two loci deviated significantly from the Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium, and none of the loci combinations showed significant linkage disequilibrium. These microsatellite loci are useful in investigating the genetic variability in Tarim schizothoracin.
