Abstract
Natural surfactants(NS) have been isolated from four Chinese oil sand bitumens (NNY,NSY,SNE,SUG) using the method of solvent extraction. These compounds were analyzed by IR and their interfacial tension (γ) against pH were measured. The results were compared with these obtained for fractions separated from the bitumen by conventional methods. The factors of NS to the extraction of bitumen from oil sand by hot water were investigated.
