Abstract

A new strain of feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV), FIPV-HR, was isolated from a diseased household cat using fcwf-4 cells after ten passages in cats. The maximum titers of cell-associated and cell-free viruses scored 4.8×107 and 2.3×107PFU/ml, respectively. Half time of the reduction of viral infectivity at 37°C was 180min. The in vitro grown virus induced exudative peritonitis in kittens.
